RESTORE, ENHANCE & SOFTEN your look
What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are injectables that smooth out lines on your face and fill in wrinkles. There are multiple options when it comes to dermal fillers, so it is important to choose a board-certified dermatologist who is experienced in administering injectables. The doctor typically injects dermal fillers on the face around the mouth, nose, forehead, lips, and eyes, but some dermal fillers can be injected on the neck, hands, and even the armpits.
Dermal fillers are used to counter signs of aging. Your body begins to lose collagen as you get older. All across your body, including in your skin, muscles, bones, and connective tissues, collagen is a vital nutrient. A decrease in collagen levels in the skin can lead to skin looseness and volume loss. As the skin ages, it often becomes less elastic and begins to wrinkle.
What are the ingredients in dermal fillers?
The two most common types of fillers either reduce muscle movement or fill in fine lines and wrinkles. The injectables that reduce muscle movement contain a neurotoxin that affects the sensory system called botulinum toxin type A. When injected in appropriate doses by a board-certified dermatologist, the neurotoxin blocks signals that tell the muscle to move. This prevents future wrinkles from forming while still allowing the desired expression. Other dermal fillers may contain hyaluronic acid or poly-l-lactic acid (PLLA). These ingredients increase hydration and collagen production in the skin, making them ideal for filling lines and wrinkles in the face or adding volume to areas like the lips or cheeks. This increase in collagen restores the firmness of the facial features - providing a more youthful, enhanced appearance.
Uses of Dermal Fillers:
Dermal fillers can be used by patients looking to counter the effects of:
- Volume loss in the face, cheeks, or lips
- Asymmetry in the face
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)
Results from neurotoxin injectables can last months and are able to be seen within two weeks or less. Results from hyaluronic acid dermal fillers can last for years and are seen immediately.
Lift, Sculpt & Contour With Facial Optimization
Hyaluronic acid-based fillers are the most popular for treating fine lines, wrinkles, and volume loss. Hyaluronic acid, also known as HA, is a natural substance in the body that delivers nutrients. HA helps the skin retain moisture and softness and when injected delivers volume. HA can lift and restore volume to cheeks, smooth parentheses lines, soften wrinkles, smooth vertical lips lines and plump the lips. The results are subtle and long-lasting, some dermal fillers even lasting up to 2 years. You will see results immediately following your procedure.
