Scarring is the body’s biologic response to healing and repairing a wounded area of skin. Areas of fibrous tissue will replace tissue otherwise deemed normal. Some types of scars include Keloids, contracture scars, or scarring from acne. Every skin wound can result in some type of scarring. For some, scarring is aesthetically unpleasing. There are a few treatments that can be recommended to diminish the signs of scarring.
- Topical ointments, creams and/or gels
- Surgical removal of the scar (Scar Revision)
- Steroid injections
